Why Rare Beauty’s New Ambassador Feels So Fresh

Rare Beauty recently chose rising actor Ella Bright as its first celebrity ambassador, and what stood out to me most was how new the partnership feels.

Beauty campaigns often rely on celebrities audiences already know, already follow, and have already seen represent several other brands. That can create instant attention, but it can also make the campaign feel familiar before it even begins.

Rare Beauty took a different route.

By choosing someone who is still rising, the brand made the partnership feel less predictable and more like a discovery. Audiences are not just seeing another famous face attached to another product. They are being introduced to someone new at the same time the campaign is being introduced.

That creates a different kind of energy.

The brand is not borrowing from a celebrity image that has already been fully established. It has the chance to help shape the beginning of one. As Ella Bright’s career grows, Rare Beauty can feel connected to that growth instead of simply appearing after the hype has already arrived.

I also think that freshness makes the campaign more believable. The partnership feels young, current, and closely matched to the audience rather than overly polished or overly calculated.

As someone trying to enter the marketing industry, this is the kind of decision I pay attention to. It shows that a strong ambassador choice is not always about finding the most famous person possible. Sometimes, it is about finding someone who still feels exciting, unexpected, and just early enough.

Rare Beauty did not choose the biggest name.

It chose a name that still feels new.
